Too Many Prescriptions

Childbirth and pregnancy terrify me. I have known too many people that have shared horrific stories with me. I wanted a different experience. I'm a planner, so I started looking into options long before my first child came into play. Midwives appealed to me because of their holistic approach, but my sister (a mother of four) convinced me that a midwife could not handle any real emergencies with the delivery and to go with a doctor. After my first visit with the "doctor" (saw a nurse's assistant), I wasn't feeling very confident. They prescribed me progesterone which made me feel lethargic, nauseated and moody. At my next appointment, I shared my concerns and they tried to prescribe me another medication that would take care of the nausea. I always thought pregnant women were supposed to stay away from prescriptions, but at every appointment I had a new one pushed on me. It was at that point I decided I wanted to go with a midwife who would take a more natural approach and help me feel at ease with the whole situation. My midwives were amazing! They helped me realize pregnancy and childbirth are absolutely natural. Your body knows what to do and you just need to trust it. I still had some health issues like breathing problems and high blood pressure, but the midwives recommended natural remedies before a prescription was handed out. The natural remedies worked every time.
